Organizing my Life

So, yesterday, I totally thought I was going to walk into my home office and organize it, for maybe 2 hours, then come on here and talk about the importance of organization and blah blah blah.. I must be delusional for thinking that. It took all of yesterday to kind of organize my space and I’m nowhere near done.

Only half of the mess
Why is my office a disaster zone? Simple. It’s freezing. My office, that is never occupied, is located on the top floor of my old 1952 home.  In winter, the upstairs is about a steady 40F and always above 80 (not a problem) and muggy (problem) in summer. We rarely go upstairs, which is insane. We moved here to have more space and now we have less because we only use 1/3 of our house (the basement is an entirely different story.) I’m making it sound like we’ve done nothing to this house. I promise that’s not the case! A lot of work has been done on the outside; basement has been waterproofed, new water heater, lots of stuff.

I’m rambling again.. Back to the office and my organization attempts.

After spending a lot of time in my wasted space, I’ve decided that I’m going to make my house the super cozy home that I’ve always wanted. We aren’t going to live here forever, but why not make the most of it while we have it? We are going to tackle the top floor first. Joe is going to fix the bathroom and build some shelves. I’m going to get my office done and paint. Then all we need is a small TV stand for the main room and a loveseat, a big cozy chair is in there now but I’m going to move that into my office. We are hoping to finish it by the end of February, so look forward to some home DIY update posts :)

My first order of business is to get some cute binders so I can start organizing my life with these:

Pins of the Week // Ad Spot Winners

Holy social media overload! I feel like the only thing I've done this week is market myself and others through every single [not really] social media network in existence.
I can honestly say that it does help and it is worth my time. I'd like to go ahead and share my favorite pins this week from lovely small businesses and fellow Pinterest mates.

Small Business Showcase

I am starting to think that Hashtag Monday is destined to not exist. I'm not a fan of the trending hashtags today.. I'm going to start searching for a linky party that has topics I like for Monday. Does anyone know of a good linky party to join?

Until I figure out what Mondays are for sure going to be, I'm going to use them to showcase some of my favorite small business owners.

Here are a few collections of gorgeous handmade and vintage items that struck my fancy today.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Drink Whiskey

I love lemons. I really do. They taste great, they are a wonderful cleaning product, a preservative, and makes your skin glow. Why am I talking about lemons? Well, it's simple, I am sick and I need my Grandma's Cold/Flu Cure and it involves fresh lemons.

Grandma's Cold/Flu Cure
Whiskey
Fresh Lemon Juice
Honey
Pepper, Peppermint, or Rock Candy
Heat these ingredients up in a pot for a minute or two, drink, be merry.

Not a cure, but it certainly makes you feel good.

Congratulations to Michelle P for winning the New Year, New Hair Giveaway!
Two days left to enter my Nail Polish Prize Pack Giveaway

And, speaking of Nail Polish I'll be trying Glittery Saran Wrapped Nails today!
I'll update later this evening with photos.
::Update::
Not a fan of Saran Wrapped nails, so I removed it and painted my nails normally. It's the same effect as Crackle, just a lot messier.

I need to make up #hashtagMonday, too. I'll do a double hashtag next week!

BCS Dreams // 2013 Blog Preview

Were your BCS wishes granted last night or were all of your hopes and dreams completely squashed?
I am not an Alabama fan, nor am I a Notre Dame fame. I am, however, an SEC fan.
Go Vols<3
Joe is a Notre Dame fanatic. He had such high hopes and now he is in a sad football funk. He took a vacation day today and hasn't left the bed since 1am.

Other than an incredibly disappointing game we had quite a nice evening. Our house was filled with good people, good food, and good vibes; I loved it.
On a completely random side topic, I always get nervous when I use a semi-colon. I don't know why, I have just always been iffy on using them in my writing. Should I have used one there? Ah! See, it's a never ending battle.
Anyways, now that this game is over I don't really have to think or hear about football. Yay!

More Giveaways
Recipes of all kinds (I slacked on this in December but I promise I will not miss them again)

And, many other topics that I'm sure are to arise throughout the year

New Year, New Hair Giveaway

Can you believe it's already the 4th day of the new year? Have you stuck to your resolutions? I'm proud to say that I've stuck to mine.

The New Year brings many people a whole new attitude and outlook on life. I can't say how many stick with that positive feeling but, for me, this year will be different. Let me explain..
I am a stay at home mom and have been for a year and a half now; my daughter is 2.5. At first I enjoyed it, but soon found myself hating the person that I had become. I was boring! I fell into a funk. However, over the last year, I have successfully overcome all of the negativity from myself and others(nothing mean or malicious, just trying to find my correct happy place and where I fit in). My life is finally where I want it to be and this year is my fresh "beginning," back to being the positive, fun, loving, happy person I always was.
To make sure I stay positive, I need to make myself feel good on a daily basis (it could be something little.) I put makeup on every morning and make sure my hair looks cute, even if I am staying in and typing a blog post. Something as small as a little bit of blush and some mascara can make a huge impact on anyone's mood/attitude. Maybe it isn't makeup for you.. What about a morning yoga session? A mini spa exfoliation treatment before bed? A long warm shower? It could be anything.

Sticking to my positive attitude, I am going to share some my favorite feel good products with you over the month of January.
I will holding a Giveaway every Friday this month!

Today's giveaway features some of my favorite hair products.

Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Shampoo & Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Conditioner, valued at $15.98

Not only do these products smell amazing, but they are highly effective at softening and rejuvenating dry, coarse hair. They are made from natural ingredients and use eco-friendly packaging, definitely a plus!
