Garden Devastation

I can't believe that it's already July 8th.  Where has time gone?  I so long for the days that seemed to last forever...sigh.
I can't complain too much, though, because time has flown by and Joe will be home in 5 days.
I cannot wait to see him.

Now onto something devastating...
A deer had a feast in my backyard last night.  He took a good 6 inches - 1 foot off of each of my pepper plants, ate all of my larger tomatoes and almost an entire bean plant.

Do you see this? Perfectly bitten peppers and perfectly plucked tomatoes. Thanks for setting me back by a few weeks you damn deer.
My mom told me to have my man-bestie pee a perimeter around my garden and my dad told me to sprinkle pepper and peppercorns around everything but said pee would work, gross. Does anyone have an idea that doesn't involve pee?

July Goals

Hey everyone!! I hope you've had a wonderful first week of July!
I'm going to try something new this month, a public Monthly Goals link-up.
If it's public then I'll be more inclined to achieve my goals...Right?

Monthly Goals

Since this is my first link-up I don't have any met goals to share but I do have quite a few I'd like to accomplish in July.

★Organize and beautify my office; it is a disaster.
☆Organize my closet, also a disaster.
★Prepare at least 2 gluten-free/vegan meals each week and blog about it.
☆Be coffee-free 3 days per week.
★Learn how to properly can tomatoes.
☆Start saving $250-275 for Summerdance.
★Plan some type of weekend getaway with Joe.

I can't wait to come back and update you all on my goals! I especially hope the last one happens :)

Happy Friday!

It's finally Friday!!

This week has dragged.

I am in much better spirits compared to the beginning of the week, things are starting to sink into a permanent place in my mind. I forgot to mention that Joe left for El Paso, Texas (terrifying considering which town is directly across the border) for 3 weeks for work. This probably isn't going to happen again for a while, but still I was beside myself when he left considering all of the sad things that had happened just a few days before his departure.

He's going to be amazed by our garden when he comes home.  Look how much it grew in one week!

Tomorrow I'm going to discuss my first harvest plan! I really cannot wait :) I'll be making my first pickings next weekend and tomorrow the planning begins!

Lost In Boston? Well, Meet Victoria.

This lovely lady is Victoria, author of Lost in Boston, a newer blog that keeps me going back for more.

"After reading tons of fabulous blogs about a lot of my favorite topics, I started Lost in Boston early this month. I live in Boston and work just over the Charles River in Cambridge. I'm slowly learning blogging and video editing and graphic design, all in the hopes that it will lead me to sprinkle a little more creativity onto my life. When I'm not sitting in front of a computer, I can be found jogging slowly, bargain hunting, reading cookbooks and novels, traveling to exotic places and volunteering with disabled adults and children." - Victoria

She definitely had me giggling this week with her big hair (in a bad, bad way) post with references to Medusa and Frankenstein's bride. Not only giggles, but some great product suggestions in there, too!  Victoria is definitely a down-to-earth, life-loving girl and I look forward to reading all of her future posts!

I Am Grateful...

This week has been rough and heartbreaking.  Two family members passed(one of which I am having a really hard time getting past) and 2 others, who aren't family but might as well be, are very sick; one nearing the end of his 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer and one just found out he has stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes.  Times like this always have a way of getting people to stop and think about what is really important, but it also makes you wonder if you did enough.  Did I show enough love? Did I stay in touch as much as I wanted to? Did they know how much I adore them?
This all makes me realize how grateful I am for those around me and it is very clear that I need to do nothing but show them all of my love because you never know.  It's also made me realize that I'm not invincible anymore.  I'm not 21 and getting away with doing asinine things, I'm not able to eat Taco Bell daily and stay thin(yes I know it's horribly unhealthy but when you're skinny fat and drunk half the time it doesn't matter right?.. wrong), I'm not able to move as freely as I used to since my back now feels that it's made up of glass, and I'm not the only one that's in my life anymore.  I have a soulmate and a beautiful daughter and I need to make sure I stay as healthy as I can so I can be here for them for a long, long time.  You will all be seeing a lot more "healthy living" posts as I begin my journey to a more healthy life and I welcome you to come join me.
