New Year's Goals

As always, with a new year comes new goals. I've been feeling much more productive in the last month, partly thanks to an attitude adjustment and partly thanks to a gorgeous Mookaite Jasper pendant I now where. Mookaite Jasper is a motivating stone and I swear it works; the magic produced by the Earth is really something.

Living in Georgia adds to my productive feeling, I have the ability to start seeds extra early. So of course I've gotten some onion, artichoke, pomegranate and flower seeds in some little seed starting pots.
That simple 45 minute activity perked me up! I was in a mini funk last summer and fall because I wasn't able to really plant much because of our move and unpacking, Joe's company bought up a bunch of smaller companies so he was working 10-12 hour days 6 days a week for 3 months, my random work schedule, etc.. It all just added up and I couldn't spend as much time outside planting and doing what brings me meditative peace. This year, however, will be different; we have much more time to enjoy those things.

So what exactly does the rest of the year look like for me? Well, honestly, a lot of hard work and a lot of 'I don't know' but, I can try and break down my monthly goals to build up to my ultimate goal of having enough of an overflow of fruits, vegetables and eggs that I'm able to successfully support myself on just my small farm. January's goals are pretty simple, some are fun and some are just normal things that I'm trying to do to keep up with adulthood. I've hooked up with Angie and Karen's Monthly Goals link-up again to do just that!

Fun Goals:
  •   Read 2 books
  •   Do my barre dvd 3 times a week
  •   Save an extra $250 for longevity items - I will explain what this is and more importantly why in detail later, but these items would be bottled spring water/canned food/dehydrated foods/etc.
  •   Plant Amaryllis bulbs
  •   Start at least 50 more onion seeds and 3-4 types (15-20 each) of flower seeds
  •   Go to the Georgia Guidestones

House Goals:

  •   Finish cleaning out the last closet of my stuff at the farmhouse
  •   Buy two invisible books shelves for my bedroom
  •   Hang invisible shelf in living room
  •   Take donation boxes to church
  •   Get previous owners couch out of the house! THIS WAS AN OCTOBER GOAL, UGH WHYYY DO I SUCK!?
  •   Buy enough hangers to hang all my clothes and then actually hang them
  •   Get empty unpacked boxes out of the office and into the fire pit

 Blog/Work Goals:
  •  Blog 1 time a week - 1 time? That's not hard! For me it's nearly impossible, but once I get in the habit of posting I will continue with no problem.
  •  Take inventory of what SK Body Shop stuff I have left and revamp my company to integrate it with the farm
  •  Start planning what markets/festivals I'll be working this spring and summer

October Goals

I haven't done a goals post in a while, which is horrible because it was always one of my favorite posts to do. The Goals Link-Up is run by Miss Angie from My So Called Chaos and Karen from A Peek at Karen's World.
I have a lot of goals this month. Winter is nearing and there is so much to do before it gets here.

Fun Goals:
  •   Be tasters at the Madison Chili Cook-Off
  •   Go to Trick or Treat in our downtown area
  •   Take Olivia to a pumpkin patch
  •   Do my barre dvd once a day
  •   Save an extra $250
  •   Dig up new garden area and cover with cardboard and compost (this is technically a "house" goal but I consider it fun!)
  •   Stock the freezer with fresh homemade pumpkin butter (Olivia's favorite thing)
  •   Go to the Georgia Guidestones
  •   Go to a fall festival

House Goals:
  •   Clean out the last closet at the farmhouse (I still have an overflowing closet full of my stuff over there..Sorry mom!)
  •   Buy and hang invisible book shelves in bedroom
  •   Pack and take donation boxes
  •   Organize desk and Stella Kenton supplies
  •   Get couch out of the house! This should really be number 1. The people that used to own our house asked if we wanted to keep a couch and we said no, but they left it anyways. It's not a nice couch. It's not dirty or anything, it's just really old and ugly and just feels ehhh, plus it's taking up a lot of space.
  •   Unpack 1 box a week!! With my work and Olivia's school/after-school schedule and Joe's crazy long hours (converting a bunch of smaller companies they just bought) has made it difficult for us to get our house where we'd like it to be in a timely fashion.
  •   Get Joe to move more of his tools to the shed. He insists on keeping them in his office for some reason and it's making me slightly batty.

 Blog/Work Goals:
  •  Blog 2 times a week
  •  Start making products again and start advertising Stella Kenton again
  •  Start putting together a giveaway

October Wrap-up // November Goals & a Wedding!

So, I last left you with getting my garlic bed ready.. Well, it's just sitting there, wet, empty and sad. It has been raining off and on for weeks and I'm scared to plant anything because I don't want it to rot from too much water.
Aside from too much rain, October was great! We had a wonderful Halloween week and the weeks leading up to it were just as fun. There was a party at Liv's school, a party at our dear friends' farm and of course trick-or-treating!

And on Sunday, November 1, my best friend married an amazing woman! I am so happy for them and I'm honored I was there to see it.

It's that time again! First let's go over my October goals, the successes and shortcomings.
☾ Take summer plants out of garden and prepare for garlic and onion planting Did it!

Post at least 1 blog post a week. (I really really need to get back into blogging.)  Almost. I should have had at least 5 posts and I did 3.
Apply for two new farmers markets/craft shows. Kind of. I applied for one. Buckle down and market SK daily online, again. Yup! ☾ Start marketing farm more - sell more seeds/focus on WitLift. Nope. Got to setting it back up but didn't post anything.
☆ Take a further leap of faith and actually start letting people know about my future CSA GoFundMe..  NOPE :(
Get everything set up with the city for our new house--most important one. Yes! The process has begun!

How did you do on your monthly goals?
My goals for November are somewhat similar. Plus a few holiday related things! I am so excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas time. I just love November and December!

☾ Finish planting indoor winter herb garden.
☆ Write a post about planning & planting an indoor herb garden.
☾ Pack up summer clothes.
☆ Go through games, toys, and books for donations.
☾ Do yoga everyday. My body and spirit needs it!
Get holiday gift sets posted to my store.
☾ Hold a giveaway on my blog.
☆ Make Joe's lunch for work at least 4 days a week. He needs it for his health and we need to cut our extra expenses (and for good reason, we're so close to finalizing our new home!)
Walk at least 3 miles a day. Does anyone else have the app Pacer?

I'm excited to get these goals done and conquered! What are your November goals?

October Goals and a Cute Chicken Update!

It's a new season and with new seasons come new beginnings! I haven't joined a blog link-up in a while, but times are a changin'.

My goals for this month are quite simple..
☾ Take summer plants out of garden and prepare for garlic and onion planting.

Post at least 1 blog post a week. (I really really need to get back into blogging.)
Apply for two new farmers markets/craft shows.
Buckle down and market SK daily online, again.
☾ Start marketing farm more - sell more seeds/focus on WitLift.
☆ Take a further leap of faith and actually start letting people know about my future CSA GoFundMe.. I don't know why I'm so nervous about it, maybe the fact I hate asking for money, but it's to ultimately serve my community and I need some help getting there, still though. ahhhh
Get everything set up with the city for our new house--most important one.

August Goals & July Recap

Well, I made it through my first Monthly Goal link up with a few successes.

Monthly Goals

My July Goals were:
★Organize and beautify my office; it is a disaster.  Kind of a success. I organized it.
☆Organize my closet, also a disaster.  DONE!
★Prepare at least 2 gluten-free/vegan meals each week and blog about it.  I ate great food, but never blogged about it.
☆Be coffee-free 3 days per week.  SUPER FAIL! Not even close.
★Learn how to properly can tomatoes.  FAIL. But only because I don't have enough tomatoes to can yet.
☆Start saving $250-275 for SummerdanceFAIL. Didn't save anything.
★Plan some type of weekend getaway with Joe.  SUCCESS! We are going to Atlanta in October.

I guess I wasn't too much of a failure in July, lol. 50/50 isn't bad, right?

My August Goals:
★Take preschool tours with Olivia to find the right one to start going to in early winter.
☆Start downsizing all of my 'junk', do this through yard sales and charity.
★Get a secured credit card and build up my credit.
☆Excercise DAILY, not just 2 or 3 times a week.
★Order Harvest Party invitations/decorations.
☆Take a sushi class with Joe.
★Help Ancestral Warship sell out a show! Many of you may have seen them at EST Fest with MGK this past week, they rocked it!
☆Get out more and stop being a homebody! I go out, just not enough to say I have an active social life, lol.

PS. I SAW JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE AND JAY Z IN DETROIT THIS WEEK AND IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I suggest everyone go see them when they come through your town! They collaborated on about 75% of the songs, it was so good.  Jay Z seriously must have performed every single hit he has had since 1996 (including hard knock life, how awesome is that?) and same with Justin. He sang a good 4 or 5 songs from each of his solo albums. AMAZING.

July Goals

Hey everyone!! I hope you've had a wonderful first week of July!
I'm going to try something new this month, a public Monthly Goals link-up.
If it's public then I'll be more inclined to achieve my goals...Right?

Monthly Goals

Since this is my first link-up I don't have any met goals to share but I do have quite a few I'd like to accomplish in July.

★Organize and beautify my office; it is a disaster.
☆Organize my closet, also a disaster.
★Prepare at least 2 gluten-free/vegan meals each week and blog about it.
☆Be coffee-free 3 days per week.
★Learn how to properly can tomatoes.
☆Start saving $250-275 for Summerdance.
★Plan some type of weekend getaway with Joe.

I can't wait to come back and update you all on my goals! I especially hope the last one happens :)
